Clinton Public Schools District: How many students failed the English test in 2021-22 school year?

Of the 861 students who took part in the MCAS, 73% did not meet the testing standard in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

These students did not meet the required standards of the English Language Arts portion of the MCAS, compared to the 26% who did.

The number of Clinton Public Schools District students who failed their English Language Arts assessments rose by 15.9% from the previous school year.

Clinton Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Worcester County and has a main office in Clinton.

In the 2021-22 school year, 400,101 students took the English Language Arts test in Massachusetts with 73% students failing, 10.1% more than the year before.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's 2022 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS), the average scale score for grade 10 English Language Arts was 503, which met the expectation level, while the average scale score for grade 10 Science was 499, which only partially met the expectation level.

Massachusetts students performed better than most of their peers in other states, but their own average scores on a national assessment dropped from 2019 levels.
